Ryan Garcia knocks down Devin Haney three times and earns bragging rights for a while

After what seemed like an eternity, Devin Haney and Ryan Garcia finally faced off in the ring on Saturday night in Brookyln, New York. Although Haney’s WBC belt wasn’t on the line due to Garcia missing weight, he earned the bragging rights by defeating Haney.

Garcia came out on the offensive, aggressively pressuring Haney and throwing all different kinds of punches from different angles.

Although Haney looked thrown off by Garcia’s pressing in the first round, Haney settled in as early as the second round. Haney was particularly effective with his jab, throwing it frequently and landing it consistently.

But then Garcia’s power started to shine. In the sixth round, Garcia came out firing and landed a combination of punches that alerted Haney.

Garcia used the momentum to drop Haney in the seventh round with a vicious left hook and short right hand follow-up. Haney looked extremely wobbled, but was able to survive the round.

Despite the knockdown, Garcia got a point deducted in the same round.

In the 10th round, Garcia once again sent Haney to the canvas.

And then, for good measure, Garcia knocked Haney down for a third time in the 11th round.

Haney might have won his fair share of rounds, but the knockdowns were simply too much to overcome. And the judges were in the majority on giving Garcia the win.
