Germany vs France LIVE: Euro hosts aim to end terrible form after sacking Flick

After sacking manager Hansi Flick, Germany will be aiming to end their terrible run of form when they host France in a friendly.

Flick was dismissed from his role over the weekend and became the first Germany boss to ever be sacked in their 123-year history.

The DFB was forced to act after a humiliating 4-1 home defeat to Japan that followed dismal results in the Nations League and World Cup.

Germany host Euro 2024 next summer and they are now desperate for a boost in confidence ahead of the next major tournament.

They’ll be aiming to get that boost against France but it won’t be an easy task with Didier Deschamps’ side winning their last five games without conceding a goal.

Germany vs France: What has been said?

Flick was sacked following Germany’s fourth defeat in their last five games with DFB president Bernd Neuendorf making a statement.

He said: “The committees agreed that the senior men’s national team needs new impetus after the recent disappointing results.

“We need a spirit of optimism and confidence with a view to the European Championships in our own country.

“For me personally, it is one of the most difficult decisions in my life current term of office. Because I value Hansi Flick and his assistant coaches as football experts and people.

“But sporting success is the top priority for the DFB. Therefore the decision was unavoidable.”
